What are the seasons for the different high school sports? Also what sport should I try for?

Question by x_dino.rawr: What are the seasons for the different high school sports? Also what sport should I try for?
I’m starting high school this year. School starts in about 2 weeks. I’ve realized that most of my friends are trying for a bit, so less time for us all to be together. Instead of just wasting my time I want to try to get something to. My problem is I’m not sure what I try. I’ve never really been into the sport but recently she thought quite interesting and want to join Any suggestions? :) Thanks in advance.

Fall sports: cross country, football, volleyball
Winter: hockey, basketball, swimming
Spring: track, golf

I couldn’t tell you what to try out for. It depends on what you like to do and what you might be good at. Talk to the coaches of the different sports and see which one appeals to you the most.

Sports could actually be different at your school.. But at my school it goes like this:

Fall: boy’s tennis, girl’s swimming, football, cheerleading for football, boy’s soccer, girl’s golf, cross country, and volleyball.
Winter: gymnastics, boy’s swimming, bowling, basketball, and cheerleading for basketball.
Spring: boy’s golf, girl’s tennis, track, girl’s soccer, baseball, and softball.

And wrestling and dance is in there somewhere too, I’m just not sure where. I hope this helps :)

Oh, and also, if you aren’t in any of these now or don’t think you could do them, you would be surprised. I’m about to be a junior in high school and I just joined my school’s swim team last week and I love it and I love feeling so involved. And my boyfriend has been taking me to some tennis courts by our house and he’s been teaching me tennis and I love that as well and I can’t wait to join it in the spring. So you should also definitely try something new :)

Well I’m not sure about your school but at mine in order to show the coaches what you’re really made of you should go to the conditioning. For soccer they had conditioning for half the summer. And if you aren’t that into sportsthen maybe it would be a good idea to try practicing them before you go out for one because if you are brand new you won’t do as well at try outs.

well it all depends on what youre good at and what you enjoy doing but id reccommend the cheer team! its soooo fun and you automatically have 10 friends! they also get very socially involved with the other teams like basketball, baseball, and football! dont worry cheerleaders arent anything like they seem in the movies! they really are nice and accepting people! and cheer is sooo rewarding!
