IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno shared the stage with Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and “Start ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen” Jamie King on a groundbreaking docu-trip, the Latin American and Caribbean artists will highlight and showcase the cultural diversity of the region.
At a Television Critics Association
of UNIVISION breakfast in Pasadena, California, hosted, journalists have a preview on the program, the highest in the United States 28 January is the first time at 19.00 clock Eastern time on the leading Spanish-language network Univision. The program is produced in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and broadcast in 21 countries by leading networks, including Televisa in Mexico and Caracol TV Colombia, among others. Participants viewed a short film documenting travels, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and made Jamie King in America over the last severalmonths from celebrating mount remote villages to big cities to a multi-national cast, the Latin music, acrobatics and dance.
“¡Q’Viva! is a tapestry of beauty, diversity and cultural richness of Latin America and the Caribbean, and I congratulate all ¡Q’Viva! ‘s producers for their vision,” said Moreno. “To Jennifer, Marc, and Jamie, we give our special thanks and let me tell you now official Cultural Ambassadors for Latin America and the Caribbean.”
The bank worked with the producers of “¡Q’Viva! The Chosen” by supporting the search for talent in Latin America and the Caribbean through its youth network, cultural institutions and other organizations tied to cultural IDB-backed projects. More than 500 candidates from 14 countries attended the auditions.
Moreno said that the Inter-American Development Bank strongly believes that promotion of culture is an important driver of economic development in the region. “We believe that to build economic and social development far more than bridges and schools, providing clean drinking water and medical care, and pressing another point of GDP growth means,” he said. “It means improving the quality of life of all people in Latin America and the Caribbean. We believe that it maintain vital cultural initiatives, the opportunities for everyone to exercise their imagination, their souls, encourage their dreams and their to support full potential. “
The IDB has played a strong role in the promotion of culture for development. In the past 20 years, the Bank has issued loans and grants totaling approximately $ 2 billion for cultural programs with socio-economic impacts. These include projects to restore and revitalize historic colonial district, support the creation of youth orchestras in the region, promotion of sport as a tool for the development of youth job skills, and many others.
